OUR STORY
The Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity has been serving the Grand Forks, ND and East Grand Forks, MN communities since 1989.
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 70 countries. Locally, we have built more than 30 homes in the 35 years serving the Red River Valley region, for low income families. Individuals and families, who are residents of Polk or Grand Forks counties, in need of a hand up, partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home, whether it's through our Habitat Helpers Repair or Homeownership Programs. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower.
DID YOU KNOW??? Almost 11.5% of North Dakotans live in poverty. The stability that home provides for families is beneficial for holding a job, child development, and wealth accruement. No one should have to choose between paying the rent/mortgage and gasoline for their car or nutritious food. |
