OUR STORY
The Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity has been serving the Grand Forks, ND and East Grand Forks, MN communities since 1989.
Habitat for Humanity is an international organization dedicated to eliminating poverty housing by building affordable homes for families in need. Using volunteer labor, donated materials, and community funding, Habitat affiliates across the U.S. operate with similar missions, but may have different local programs and regulations.
|
Driven by the vision that everyone needs a decent place to live, Habitat for Humanity began in 1976 as a grassroots effort. The Christian housing organization has since grown to become a leading global nonprofit working in more than 70 countries. Locally, we have built more than 35 homes in the Red River Valley region, for low income families.
Individuals and families, who are residents of Grand Forks County and East Grand Forks, in need of a hand up, partner with Habitat for Humanity to build or improve a place they can call home. Through financial support, volunteering or adding a voice to support affordable housing, everyone can help families achieve the strength, stability and self-reliance they need to build better lives for themselves. Through shelter, we empower. |
DID YOU KNOW???
Almost 11.5% of North Dakotans and 9% of Minnesotans live in poverty. The stability that home provides for families is beneficial for holding a job, child development, and wealth accruement. No one should have to choose between paying the rent/mortgage, gasoline for their car or nutritious food.
