This program offers two services to help homeowners live safely and comfortably.

Donate to Repair Homes

Aging In Place

​We know that aging in place extends longevity and quality of life, and safe and stable housing and community networks are core to these outcomes.
This program is for seniors (62+) choosing to stay in their homes instead of moving to assisted living.

​Modifications include:

• Mobility/Disability Home Modifications
• Bathroom/Kitchen Modifications
• Porch Renovations for Safe Entry/Exit
• Additional Home Safety Improvements

A Brush With Kindness

​We offer minor interior or exterior updates or modifications to low-moderate income veterans, those who have disabilities, and those who have limited mobility so they can continue to live in safe, decent homes for years to come. 

​Services include:

• Accessibility Ramps and other modifications
• Exterior Painting ​
• Window Replacement
• ​Minor Weatherization
• Necessary Health & Safety Improvements (handrails, grab bars etc.) 

​*Person applying must be of 18 years or older.

Sweat Equity

Homeowners MUST be present during repair work performed by Red River Valley Habitat for Humanity and assist as needed, unless physically unable.

Applicant Criteria

• Applicant must be low to moderate income. See the chart below.
• Applicant must own home and use it as their primary residence (not an investment or seasonal property). 
• Taxes, Insurance, and Mortgage payments (if applicable) must be current.
• Homeowner must have homeowner's insurance , verified through the most recent mortgage statement.
• If taxes and insurance are not in escrow, proof of payment is required.
• The property must be free of mechanics liens. 
• Homeowner must NOT​ be planning to move or sell the home after repairs are made.

Limit of Work

The program focuses on minor exterior and interior repairs.

Services NOT covered:

• Critical home repair 
• Significant Weatherization
• Foundation or structural work
• Significant plumbing, electrical or heating repairs
• LIHEAP related services
• Roofing
• Garages, sheds and unnecessary additions
• Cosmetic updates​
